Overview
In Butterfly, Seoungho Cho pursues an associative connection between a Buddhist drumming ritual and the pulsing drum solo in Iron Butterfly's famous psychedelic rock song "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida." Cho's mesmerizing documentation of the Buddhist ritual furthers the association by framing the drummer so that his movements resemble those of a butterfly beating its wings in air.
