As she sets outs to map Black intellectuals and activism in the United States, a young photographer, her camera and her books begin to produce a cartography that emerges from the transtemporal communication between people such as Gordon Parks, Angela Davis, Frederick Douglas, Melnea Cass, Rosa Parks, and Malcolm X. Using different textures and texts, the film reintroduces the question of which historical monuments should, in fact, be erected so that history is not forgotten.
