Advertisement for Absolut Vodka. Christine Panushka, Associate Director of Experimental Animation at Cal Arts, and animation historian Dr. William Moritz collaborated with 31 innovative creators of animated short films from all over the world to create an early experiment with web animation. The animations were each 10 seconds in length and incorporated, with broad interpretation, the Absolut bottle. They were produced for 35mm film and toured the international film festivals that Absolut supported, playing as a trailer before feature programs. The animations were also compressed for downloading from the Absolut Vodka web site along with biographies of the animators and an online history of experimental animation. The result was an on-line experimental animation film festival and animation history book. The complete site was available on Absolut’s web site from 1997 through 2000 but is, unfortunately, currently not available online.
