Overview
Demetrëa Dewald is a Los Angeles-based film and video artist. Her work focuses on the human condition through a queer lens. Her recent work has explored genderless storytelling and screenwriting, breaking down the gender tropes that continue to dominate the film industry. Working in the partnership of The Ladies Dewald, Demetrea has created a multitude of projects from feature films Let The Record Show and External Living to video installations including Who Loves you?, Is and The (red) Ribbon Project. Demetrea’s work has been recognized with a number of awards and grants, including an Art Matters Foundation Grant and the Santa Fe Film Festival's Best Documentary Audience Select Award for Let The Record Show. Her work has been featured in festivals, museums, and universities around the world, and she has served as a mentor and teacher for emerging filmmakers through programs such as The Different Women Network.
