About
Esther Valiquette
Overview
Born in 1962, Esther Valiquette died in 1994. Initially a camera and lighting assistant, she switched to directing when she was diagnosed with AIDS. She left us two videos and a film, the first artistic works to bear witness to a personal struggle against this disease, still little-known at the time. Her original creations explore the links between technology, autobiography and the reappropriation of science. Le Singe Bleu, a highly personal and innovative film, attracted a great deal of media interest and won several major awards.
