Marianne Hougen-Moraga
Overview
Marianne Hougen-Moraga is an award-winning documentary film director. Her first feature film Songs of Repression, which she directed together with her partner in both her private and professional life, Estephan Wagner, won the DOX:AWARD at CPH:DOX 2020 and has since then traveled the world and been awarded prizes widely.
Marianne has worked in the documentary industry since 2005 and has freelanced on various productions in Denmark, the UK, Middle East, and South America alongside with directing her own documentaries. Her short documentaries have won prizes and been shown at international festivals, on Danish Broadcast Television, and in venues such as BFI London and ICP New York. Marianne also works as a teacher and supervisor in film and art schools in both Denmark and internationally.
She did her MA studies in non-fiction film at Goldsmiths College, University of London. Additionally, she holds an MA in media science from the University of Copenhagen.
