John Allen
Overview
John Allen (born December 4, 1944) is an Australian actor. After graduating from the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 1969, he initially established himself in theatre, appearing in some eighteen productions at the prestigious Melbourne Theatre Company. This was followed by a number of appearances with the Old Tote Theatre Company in Sydney, culminating with the opening season of the Sydney Opera House and a tour with the Company to London and the West End. After returning to Australia he continued to play a broad range of roles on stage, but also became known for his performances in film and on television. In an acting career spanning nearly four decades he was associated with many notable productions, but retired from performing in 2000.
