Niuyue Kay Zhang
Overview
Kay Niuyue Zhang is from Wuhan, China and lives in Los Angeles. She graduated from Duke University with a BA in International comparative studies and History. She was then a Film Production MFA candidate in University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, and received the merit award of James Bridges and Jack Larson fund. As a director and producer, Kay has brought her films to more than 30 international film festivals. Recently she produced the documentary short "Unfinished Lives" which won the gold medal at the 47th Student Academy Awards. She also worked as Key PA in renowned TV and feature films such as "Spongebob Squarepants" (seasons 9-12) and "Bureau 749" by Chinese director Lu Chuan.
As a director with a strong cinematography background, Kay’s films tend to capture stories of the Asian American experience, crossing borders, coming of age, and female voices with a subtle and exquisite visual style.
