Hanif Zaini Abdullah

Overview

Born in West Jakarta, with a wide and diverse environment making him more sensitive to his surroundings. His interest in the world of cinema made him interested in exploring and expressing his perspective and telling stories through the medium of film. He is interested in stretching the boundaries of personal-objective narratives.

His film "A Will to Fly Away" won the Best Short Film Semi-Finalist Award at the Student World Impact Film Festival 2023. Also his latest film “A Father’s Autograph” won “Piala Uncal Emas” at Festival Film Bogor 2023. Also the latest of his works, “Emak and Her Surroundings” got selected at Minikino Film Week 2024 on “Toast Your Short” Short Film Market program also “Best Scenario” “Best Directing” at Universitas Indonesia Film Festival 2024 (UIFF). He owns a production house called Layar Labuh Films and wants to continue it with his works. Hanif is currently studying at the Jakarta Institute of Arts, Faculty of Film and Television.
