Overview
Basir Ahmed is a Pakistani writer-director and musician based in Karachi. A 2021 Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture graduate, his thesis film Baba Jee premiered at the Vancouver International South Asian Film Festival (Canadian Screen Award-qualifying) and won 6 awards, including Best Director at 2 festivals, before being acquired by IndieFlix. His archive film Manly Men was exhibited at the Lahore Biennale Foundation's Virtual Museum under the British Council's PK/UK New Perspectives program. He has directed music videos for Aima Baig, Taha G, and Ali Tariq, with Baig's work featured on BBC Asian Network. A Qalambaaz Screenwriting Fellow (2023), his debut feature Kurrachee was a ScreenCraft Virtual Pitch semifinalist and is in development.
