Florian Yuriev
Overview
Florian Yuriev is a Ukrainian teacher, artist, architect, composer, art critic, scientist, colorist, master artist of violin musical instruments, candidate of art history, poet, honored worker of culture of Ukraine, public figure. Known as the architect and creator of the "Flying Saucer" (designed by Yuriev in 1978) - one of the architectural sights of Kyiv, which later they wanted to illegally reconstruct and rebuild, which is the subject of 2 documentaries by Oleksiy Radynski - "Facade Colour: Blue" (2019; short) and "Infinity According to Florian" (2022; full-length). He died in Kyiv, in 2022. The material of the abstract film about nature shot by him was edited into a short film called "Film Dedicated to Water and Trees" and shown as part of the world premiere at the Rotterdam Film Festival in 2023 (posthumously).
