Gustavo A. Romero
Overview
Gustavo Álvarez Romero is a student of the College of Dramatic Literature and Theater from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
As part of his professional training, he attended the "Film Form Analysis" workshop, taught by Dr. Lauro Zavala; the "Cinema and Philosophy" course at the CCC, given by the screenwriter and philosopher Kevin Nöel; the "Cinematographic Appreciation" course, taught by the journalist, critic and writer of El Sol de México, Gerardo Gil Ballesteros; the "Art History" course given by the arts graduate and actress, Sandra Aguilar; as well as the "History of Mexican and World Cinema" course, taught by the critic, analyst and writer of La Jornada, Jorge Caballero. In addition, he has participated in the "Cinematographic Script and Direction Workshop" at the hands of the professor Gerardo Herrera and the color correction workshop by the colorist Natalia Mercado. Gustavo has participated in film productions where he has gone through the different areas of production, having the opportunity to be from Production Assistant, Producer, Director of Photography and Film Director in more than ten projects. Also, from 2019 to 2020, he was part of an independent music production house, called Bounce Producciones, where he created audiovisual content for independent artists from Mexico City and recently, he produced the ENAC-UNAM short film "Drowning" (2023) directed by Julieta Bernal.
