Lakis Papastathis

Overview

Lakis Papastathis was born in Volos on May 16, 1943. He studied at the Center for Film Studies (1963). In 1972, he directed his first short film, “Letters from America,” which won an award at the Thessaloniki Film Festival. From 1968 to 1971, he worked as an assistant director, mainly on “Eudokia” by Alexis Damianos. Three years later, he moved to television, where, as a director-producer, he created the series “Backstage” and “Historical Archive” with Takis Hatzopoulos. He directed the feature films: The Time of the Greeks (1981), Theophilus (1987), The Only Journey of His Life (2001), and Journey to Mytilene (2010).
