Overview
Bartolomé Mitre (1821-1906) was one of Argentina's most influential political and cultural figures. He was the first constitutional president of the unified Argentina, from 1862 to 1868. He is also the founder of La Nación, one of the country's oldest newspapers, as well as the Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires, one of the country's oldest and most prestigious high schools.
