Mangesh Desai was a freedom ﬁghter, a nationalist, a patriot, and a gifted sound technician. He fought the British, smuggled revolvers, and made bombs. The New York Times rated him among the top ten sound mixing engineers of the world. He influenced directors across generations and achieved the impossible through his aesthetics even with technological limitations. He moulded himself according to the subject, ﬁlm, and director. He was legendary by all deﬁnitions.
