At the peak of the harvesting season, when there is a shortage of machinery and the new one needed adjustment, the chairman of the collective farm entrusts the combine harvesters to the Steppe Squadron of high school students. Only two of them run away from the hard work, the rest carry the labor watch under Sergey Lotarev till the very end with honor.
