The Youngest Daughter

Natsumi, the youngest girl of the family, is the perfect daughter and stabliser of the shattering family of five, who are not talking to one another. One day, tired of the family situation, Natsumi runs away and finds refuge in her loving grandmother and her kindly neighbours in the countryside. The reprieve does not last long, and troubles from home come after her. Exasperated, Natsumi challenges her estranged parents to a game of badminton. Will her parents rise to the challenge and be able to work as a team again? Told from a little girl’s perspective, the short explores the gender roles and dynamics in a modern Japanese family.
