The staff of a deceased aristocrat are desperate to locate her Will and consult Gladys, who suggests dowsing for it. Early results are not impressive, but Trevor becomes interested in a walnut writing-desk which has been taken away by the auctioneers.

An elderly servant is arrested for theft of some silverware and Gladys turns to Eavis for help. She also persuades Zelda to hold a séance, at which she raises the spirit of the furniture maker who built the desk. Trevor realises that the original desk has been copied for a Japanese buyer, and subsequently horrifies Gladys and Cecile when he bids for the original at auction. However he then reveals that he has discovered the missing Will concealed in it.
