The judge pronounces the verdict that Samar Singh be hanged until death for the murder of Captain Ross. While being taken to the prison Karma pleads to Nelson to hang him instead of Samar Singh. The shrewd Nelson offers to toss a coin to decide between Samar and Karma. Nelson taunts Laxmibai but she tells him that only time will prove who has won. The people hail Samar Singh. Gangadhar receives the news of Samar Singh's sentence and immediately leaves for Jhansi. Laxmibai picks up her sword and decides to teach the British a lesson. But then Motibai reminds her of her promise to Gangadhar. Laxmibai decides to use her intelligence to defeat the British and save Samar. Fateh Khan and Jwala too pray for Samar Singh. The prison inmates hail Samar Singh. Laxmibai wants to file an appeal in the court. The officer says that it is impossible as a lot of signatures would be required to file the appeal.
