Poison pen letters are being sent to everyone in town. It seems like a vulgar joke until a letter is found next to a suicide victim. The village vicar's wife happens to be a personal friend of Miss Marple and asks her to come and discover the culprit. Then another body is found, this time clearly murder. Part one of two.
