Napoleon signs an order pardoning the Duke of Enghien. Josephine hands the paper to Peter. Mongo reappears at Sibari's house. From Anna Antonovna, he learns that Olga has gone to the palace and is in a hurry for her. There is a fire in Spartacus' house. Varya suggests that Lugin wait until the wooden one burns out and get free. Olga tells Napoleon that she has not changed her mind: her consent to the meeting is the only way to get out of prison and talk to him.
