The petrel gets its name from its cat-like cry. From spring to summer, they gather around shrines along the coast of Hachinohe, Aomori, to breed. There are about 30,000 of them. Many people come to catch a glimpse of the large flock that covers the sky. An American resident of Aomori Prefecture brought his family to Japan. A man who enjoys talking with the petrels.
