Hui Tsung promotes Man Ho and grants him the Princes house. However, Man Ho is unmoved since he gradually finds that the court is a evil place.

Hui Tsung realizes that Ko Kau is a tricky person while Man Ho is a man of character. He thus entrusts the latter more and more much to discontent Ko Kau.

Ko Kau decides to ask the Princess's hand but worries that Lim Lo would be in his way. He thus purposely beats her up and summons Man Ho to see her, hoping that the two would re-unite and thus he has the excuse to abandon her.
