It's day one of the competition in the picturesque town of Bath, and first up to host is posh girl about town Liv Sargeant. Liv decides to kick things off with a sophisticated evening, complete with black tie dress code, which goes down better with some guests than others.

The complete strangers that Liv has to win over are vegetarian ex-raver Mel Lewis-Leger; sandwich fanatic Becky Tyler; French patriot and food snob Denis Verrier, and finally local handyman Jon Wicheard, a man with simple tastes. Will Liv manage to pull off the stylish soiree she's aiming for, or will her hopes of a chic night be dashed by Jon's sudden revelation that he can only eat his dinner if it's accompanied by a certain type of special red sauce...
