In the rain, YAU searches for a phone neck-string that HANG gave her. She is exhausted and blacks out. SHEUNG suggests urgent heart surgery for her. YAU demands that HANG become her boyfriend in exchange for undergoing the surgery, but he refuses. FUN is bothered by KIU’s unpredictable behaviour and asks HING for help. HING tells him that women will not have a relationship with a man whom they don’t love. Their biggest fear is that the man stays with them out of a sense of responsibility. FUN partly understands. CHING tries to persuade HANG to visit YAU and urge her to have the operation. HANG insists that lying will bring her more harm than good. HANG is diagnosed with liver cancer. He asks CHING if she has ever loved him. She tells him that she has not because of YAU, which breaks his heart.
