In clever Roundhouse fashion, issues such as racism and cultural intolerance are addressed metaphorically - using a silly situation of intolerance to show us how really ridiculous and trite any kind of prejudice is. Brian struggles with his feelings for a girl whose belly button is an "innie" even though he is an "outie."
The kids tackle racism, prejudices, and stereotypes when a first date leads to belly button related tensions.
